Au Revoir

You and I are an au revoir
There is no final goodbye
There may be weeks that we don't say a word
But I can count that you'll eventually come by
You have never learned to let go
So you say farewell until again
But it's not that you miss me so much
Although that's the message you send
You have learned that au revoir
Means that you are safe in your choice
You can leave and come right back
If you touch me with your voice
I do not want an au revoir
I want you to choose to let go
I may be single and without someone new
But I still don't you back here though
Au revoir is not a justification
Of going away to decide
There are too many places that I have left to go
To depend on you running back to my side
You think that saying au revoir
Means that you have me sitting in you hand
That because you have learned to chicken out of goodbye
Means that you and I are grand
I will not hear au revoir again
I am a tool hidden in your shed
That is the last time you will use me
So go cry to yourself in bed
I've let you say au revoir one too many times
And au revoir we no longer are
We are simply a final goodbye
Torn apart with a drastic scar
