I Give Thanks

I give thanks for the turkey

That runs from my mouth to in

For we are all quite thankful

As we sit together with juice on our chin

I give thanks for the people 

Who make this meal a sight

That helps me calm my frightful thoughts

And I sit and enjoy the light

I give thanks for the music

That's kept me on the ground

The melodys string together

As they help fight off the hounds

I give thanks for the readers

Who make my eyes light up

For sometimes even a happy day

Can have far too many hiccups

I give thanks for my courage

To stay and not run away

For I know that eventually

I'll be glad for my choice that day

I give thanks for the hardships

For I'm strong and see the light

I give thanks for Jesus

For in him I'll be alright

I give thanks for the things I see

And the things I get to ignore

I give thanks because someday

I'll need the thanks that I have stored
